Growing up in as part of a long line of Genasi Assault style Swordmages, the family dojo meant everything to young Jett. Jett’s youth was filled with many days of carefully watching and observing the older students. Dreams of following his grandfather Zan-Kyri’s footsteps and becoming one of the legendary Anarch’s of Shyr filled his head on a daily basis.
At the age of 11 the day had finally come when Jett would be allowed to officially enter the Dojo as a student. It was the happiest day of his life. Jett soon learned that life in the Dojo was not as easy as his young mind thought it to be. However, being from a family of Firesoul Genasi, passion burned deep within Jett. Studying later and harder than all the other students, Jett quickly began to show promise. Late at night after the rest of the Dojo had retired for the day Jett would spend long hours in private study with his grandfather in hopes of someday reaching his goal.
That is until oneday, “he” appeared. Who this “he” is is a mystery to all as the traveler had never been seen around the Elemental Chaos before. With only the clothes on his back and an ancient looking, glowing sword on his side the traveler appeared at the dojo seeking a few days respite from the hardships of the Elemental Chaos. Not a place to turn away travelers (especially those of the sword) the dojo granted him a room to stay in for a couple days.
The traveler showed much interest in the art of the Swordmage as he spent the next couple days carefully observing the lessons and training of the students. The traveler quickly built became liked by those at the Dojo had met him. Sadly, the traveler’s time at the dojo came to a close. He informed those he had met that he would have to leave the following morning.
Late that night, as Jett and his grandfather trained in private, their lesson was interrupted by ear-shattering screams from the living quarters of the dojo. Jett and Zan-Kyri quickly rushed to see what was going on. When they arrived all they could see was complete devastation. They immediately checked on their fellow students and instructors to find not a single one was still breathing.
As they turned to search the rest of the dojo they were greeted by the shadowy silhouette of the traveler. Zan-Kyri quickly grabbed one of the nearby swords of his deceased students and instructed young Jett to stay back. Zan-Kyri and the traveler then engaged in a brutal fight to the death. After several minutes it appeared evident that in his old age Zan-Kyri did not have enough stamina to maintain the pace of the fight. Zan-Kyri turned to his grandson, the last living member of his family, forced and feeble smile and told him to make a break for the door.
As young Jett sprinted for the door Zan-Kyri stood up and faced the travel declaring that neither of them would leave the room alive. Summoning up the last remaining ounces of his strength, Zan-Kyri began to chant the intonations of the ultimate technique of the the Anarch’s of Shyr, the Shyran Cataclysm.
Exhausted from the long of day training and terror of the night before, Jett awoke in the basement of the dojo. Not sure if his memory was that of true events or just a nightmare he went back to check on the living quarters. There to his horror, he found the bodies of all of his family, fellow students, and even his beloved grandfather. However, there was something missing…the traveler was nowhere to be found. Jett was able to recover shattered fragments of the ancient glowing sword the traveler once wielded, but the traveler himself had disappeared.
Having nothing left, the passion of a Firesoul Genasi burning deep within Jett swore to get vengeance on the mysterious traveler if it was the last thing he would do.
Jett realized that in his current state that there was nothing he could do. Determined to uphold his promise Jett set out on a mission to become strong enough to one day strike down the cursed traveler. Armed with the knowledge that vast powers must exist outside the Elemental Chaos, Jett left his homeland behind him forever.
During his travels Jett gained much knowledge and strength, but more importantly came to a great realization. There were two things Jett wanted more than anything. Vengeance, but to also never allow harm to come to those close to him.
Having heard of a tale of a Swordmage style focusing on defense and the protection of others Jett set out for Myth Drannor to seek training from the Eladrin Swordmage practitioners of the Shielding Swordmage style.
After spending almost a decade learning the art of the Shielding Swordmage, Jett again set out in search of the traveler. Stopping only for a short time to make money and re-supply as needed. Jett today finds himself in the grand city of Guildtown.
